SMS Student Louis L. won the Department of Energy’s Brookhaven Cyber Challenge. Middle school competitors fused art and technology by using Python Turtle to code a digital flower. After careful coding, Louis’s creation won the top award! In addition to this, both SMS science bowl teams made it all the way to the quarterfinals (where they were eliminated in a heartbreaking tie-breaker!). The science bowl team is mentored by Mrs. Diane Caplain (Science Teacher) and Mr. Tobias Hatten (Science Department Head).
