South High Students Attend Virtual Enterprise Leadership Conference
Six students from the South High School Virtual Enterprises (VE) program attended the 2023 Long Island VE Leadership Conference at CW Post-Long Island University on Oct. 27. This annual conference provides high school students with an opportunity to learn from the experiences of successful college professors, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs.
South High participants Maanya Chandwani, Jiating (Jenny) Hu, David Kagan, Michael Kim, Ellen Zhang, and Yueting Zhao represented their Virtual Enterprise firm, “Core Tech.” They were accompanied by South High business teacher Scott Feldman.
During the conference, breakout competitions were held in different business sectors. Jenny Hu, a senior at South High, was recognized as a member of the winning team in the finance competition.
South High offers Virtual Enterprises as a full-year business course. Through hands-on, task-based curricula, students test drive potential careers and develop in-demand skills and competencies sought by post-secondary institutions and employers. By managing the day-to-day operations of a company, students not only develop business skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, they also identify career pathways that align with their interests, talents, and aspirations.
