Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Swim Team who won their first meet this year by defeating Massapequa. Freshman Roland Chai entered his first H.S. swim meet as a diver and was selected as the MVP of the meet. Roland began diving 3 weeks ago and, through hard work and dedication, he completed all 6 dives and took first overall - way to go Roland!
The meet began with GNS taking 1st and 2nd in the 200 medley relay, and following that up
by taking 1st and 2nd in all the relays. Seniors Sean Su, Thomas Huh, & Alan Gu, with some help from juniors Vadym Yatsenko, Wesley Tung, and Eric Ding, dominated their events from the very beginning. The boys sent a clear message that they are the team to beat this year. The next home meet will be 12/13 vs Sewahaka at 5pm.
Last evening, the winter track and field season commenced with the first crossover meet of the year. Top performers included Maggie Wuand and Calvin Chang in the high jump; Jay Du-Shane, John Morrow, and Edison Wonin middle distance; Ben Dong and Josh Rabbani in the high hurdles; and Kyrie Weisbrot and Henrik Yung in the shot put. The day's top performer was GNS superstar Izzy Spagnoli. Izzy was the overall 1,500 meter winner, easily outkicking her opponent over the last 100 meters for the resounding victory. The team next travels to Staten Island for this weekend's Nassau Coaches meet.
