Supporting Educational Exploration and Knowledge
The S.E.E.K. Program provides in-depth, extended instruction for those students whose needs are not solely being met in the classroom. The program fosters critical and creative thinking in an inquiry-based learning environment. Students engage in rigorous challenges beyond the regular classroom instructional program and, in some cases, participate in activities, projects, and assignments in lieu of those offered in the classroom.
S.E.E.K teachers work closely with classroom teachers in a variety of ways to provide professional development for differentiated instruction resulting in an enriched curriculum for all students.
Recommendation of SEEK students begins in third grade and is based on the following criteria:
- Exceeds grade level standards on classroom assessments
- Demonstrates higher level problem solving, and critical and creative thinking on S.E.E.K assessments
- Recommendation by teachers
Student academic performance is continually monitored and evaluated by all teachers and consideration for SEEK is ongoing. Each year children are reassessed to determine whether SEEK services are required.
