•  Advisory Program

     What is advisory?

    • The 9th Grade Advisory Program is the very first introduction that the incoming freshmen have to Great Neck North High School.  Organized into small, heterogeneous groups known as Advisories, the ninth grade students are introduced to a faculty advisor and two selected Peer Leaders.  For the first half of the year, the freshmen will adapt to their new school with help from the experienced Peer Leaders and begin to form new relationships with their peers.  The group sessions will encourage discussion about pertinent topics such as integrity, bullying, stereotyping, peer pressure, and substance abuse, as well as team building activities to encourage communication and collaboration among the students.
    • The 10th grade advisory program continues to evolve but it’s main goal remains consistent: to provide a support group that encourages and nurtures social, academic and personal development. The tenth grade advisory hopes to create a culture of sensitivity, acceptance and compassion among all members of the North High School student community.  In addition, the tenth grade advisory promotes student participation and encourages students to implement the various themes that are covered in each session well beyond the confines of the advisory period. The ultimate goal is to create a safer, happier, and more productive school.
