Mr. William Auger

Mr. Auger began his teaching career at North Middle in 2002, teaching 8th grade Honors Earth Science and 8th grade General Science. Mr. Auger had taught 6th grade science prior to joining the Great Neck school district, so was excited when an opportunity to join Team Discovery opened up. He has been with the team ever since, and greatly enjoys the enthusiasm 6th graders have as they begin their journey through middle school. Mr. Auger has his Masters Degree from LIU CW Post in Secondary Earth Science Education. He is also certified in General Science and has the Elementary Extension Certification.

Mrs. Lauren Hoffman

Mrs. Hoffman has worked in the Great Neck Public School District since 2014. She is currently a Regents Earth Science teacher, but has also taught 6th grade physical science at Great Neck North Middle School. Mrs. Hoffman has worked as a hydrogeologist as well as an endangered species monitor in her past careers. Mrs. Hoffman has been the coach for the Great Neck North High Varsity Field Hockey team as well as the Great Neck North Middle 7 and 8th Grade Boys Tennis team.  This year she is excited to take on the responsibility as the 8th Grade Team White Team Leader.

Mrs. Hoffman graduated from Dickinson College with a B.S. in Environmental Science. She later graduated from Dowling College with an M.S. Ed. in Science Education. She is certified in Earth Science as well as General Science Education for grades 7-12 and 5-6. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family during her free time.

Ms. Liz Leone

Ms. Leone is currently a 6th grade science teacher at North Middle School and a Regents Earth Science teacher at South Middle School.  She went to the University of Maryland and earned a B.S. in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Society and Environmental Issues and completed a Masters in Science Education from Queens College.  Ms. Leone worked for five years at an environmental consulting firm on Long Island, but decided that science education was her real passion.  She is certified in Earth Science Education (7-12)​.  Outside of working in education some of her interests include biking, running, and any activity that gets her outdoors.

Mr. Tom Livingston

Mr. Livingston is embarking upon his sixth year of teaching science at the middle school level. He has experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science. Mr. Livingston went to Stony Brook University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Space Science and a Master of Arts in Teaching Earth Science. Science has been a passion of Mr. Livingston's for a very long time. It was his favorite class every day. After taking Earth Science in 9th Grade, Mr. Livingston knew he wanted to be a science teacher. His goal for students is for them to succeed in science class, but also develop and share the passion that he has for science. Outside of school Mr. Livingston enjoys jogging and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Lauren Norris

Mrs. Norris has been a teacher for over ten years and has taught various science subjects in grades 5 through 12. Mrs. Norris studied Biology Education in college and has a Master’s degree in Earth Science. When Mrs. Norris is not teaching, she enjoys being outside playing sports and taking walks. Mrs. Norris has a daughter who is currently in 1st grade.

Ms. Stefanie Oddo

Ms. Oddo is a 2004 graduate of Great Neck South High School. She has had the pleasure of teaching Middle Science at the Great Neck Public School District since 2011. This year Ms. Oddo is teaching 7th grade Life Science and Flex, but has also taught 6th grade Physical Science. Prior to teaching at North Middle School, Ms. Oddo taught two years of 8th grade science at South Middle and one year of Living Environment at Calhoun High School.  Ms. Oddo received her undergraduate and Masters degree from Adelphi University. Ms. Oddo coaches Field Hockey at North Middle School.

Mrs. Donna Plante

Mrs. Plante has had the pleasure of teaching at North Middle since 2010.  Mrs. Plante received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Geneseo and her Masters degree from Stony Brook University.  Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Plante spent several years working as a Field Hydrogeologist.  While she enjoyed the experience, she knew her passion was teaching and decided to obtain her Masters in teaching Earth Science.  In addition to Earth Science, Mrs. Plante is teaching Earth Science Support, and has been the co-advisor for Science Olympiads since 2011.  ​

Mr. Paul Roach

Mr. Roach has had the pleasure of working in the Great Neck School District since the 1990-91 school year.  He spent the first eighteen years of his career in Great Neck teaching mostly Regents and Advanced Placement Physics at North High, although he dabbled in Human Anatomy & Physiology as well as Science Ethics for a few years as well.  Since coming to North Middle eleven years ago, he has taught science to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, as well as 7th-grade math and pre-algebra.  For several years he had the pleasure of serving as the 8th-grade science research mentor, along with supervising and judging students participating in the Long Island Math Fair.  He is a family man - much of his free-time is devoted to time with immediate and extended family.  For leisure, he loves family vacations, winter skiing (when the snow permits!)​ and camping throughout the year, often as a volunteer with the Scouts USA program.

Ms. Zehava Vitberg

Ms. Vitberg has had the pleasure of teaching at Great Neck North Middle School since 2007. She is currently the science department chair and is currently teaching 8th grade Regents Earth Science.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and completed her masters degree at Stony Brook University. Ms. Vitberg holds New York State Certification in Biology, Earth Science, General Science, Childhood Education Grades 1-6, and School Building Leadership.  Ms. Vitberg also serves as a co-advisor to the Science Olympiad team.  ​

Ms. Alison Widawsky

Ms. Widawsky is currently a seventh grade life-science teacher and the Science Research Teacher at North Middle School. In addition, Ms. Widawsky is also a Regents Living Environment teacher at North High School. Ms. Widawsky earned a B.S. from SUNY Oneonta in Biology with a concentration in Human Biology, and will receive her Master of Arts in Teaching from Queens College. Ms. Widawsky is New York State Certified in Biology Science Education (Grades 7-12). While Ms. Widawsky is not in the classroom, she enjoys cooking, traveling and cheering for her favorite New York Sports teams.

Mr. Jon Zimmerman

Mr. Zimmerman has been teaching 6th grade at North Middle School since 2001.  He he also runs the school's Chess Club.   Mr. Z Graduated with a BS in Accounting from Rutgers College, and earned his MS in Secondary Education from CW Post. Prior to teaching, Mr. Z had a 20 year career working on Wall Street at various firms including Rothschild, Drexel, Lehman Brothers, and Cowan.  At Raymond James, Mr. Z was the New York Branch manager and a member of their President's Club.   Outside of school, Mr. Z is the founder and director of http://www.comp4kids.org an IRS recognized a 501(c)(3) charity.  Comp4Kids donates FREE computers to at risk individuals, families and high need school districts. Comp4kids also supplies free computers to other public charities which service these populations.   Mr. Z's charity has donated over 10,000 laptops since its inception 10 years ago.
