  • SCOPE Enrichment After School Program

    SCOPE Education Services is excited to announce the commencement of an after-school enrichment program for students in Prekindergarten through Grade 5. The program will be offered at each of the five elementary schools within the District and will take place Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. beginning November 1, 2022.   • GNPS Fall Recreation Programs

    Registration is now open for the Great Neck Public Schools Fall Recreation Program. Recreation offerings are grade-specific and available to all children residing within the Great Neck school district.

  • District-Wide Safety Plan

    The 2022-2023 District-Wide Safety Plan, developed by the District Safety Team, was adopted by the Board of Education on August 25. The plan can be viewed here.

Registration Information

  • Online Registration Dates for 2023–24 Kindergarten & UPK 

    All applications to register for Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) and Kindergarten for the 2023–24 school year will be processed online.

    Universal Pre-K

    The District offers a UPK program to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. UPK Online Registration will open Oct. 24 through Nov. 14, 2022. To enroll, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2023.  

     

    Kindergarten

    Kindergarten Online Registration will open on Jan. 17, 2023. All children who will attend public or private school kindergarten in Sept. 2023 must be registered. Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2023 is eligible for kindergarten.

    GNPS/TV Current Programs
    Programs currently airing on GNPS/TV include the South Middle Graduation, North Middle Graduation, and 2022 GNPS Faculty Recital.  GNPS/TV programming reflects the offerings of the Great Neck Public Schools and the achievements of its students and staff. Programs may be viewed within the incorporated villages of Great Neck on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32. Programs are also available on-demand, 24/7, on the GNPS/TV web page.

    The Great Neck Community Ed Fall 2022 catalog is now available online, featuring a variety of in-person and online courses. Registration is underway and classes will begin the week of Sept. 12. Visit the Community Ed web page for more details about course offerings and registration.

  • Music Students Selected for All-State

    Eight highly talented musicians from North and South High Schools have been selected for the prestigious and very competitive 2022 New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Conference, to be held in Rochester on Dec. 1–4. In addition, 14 students have been named Alternates for the event.

  • GNPS Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

    A total of 27 seniors from North High School and South High School have been honored as Semifinalists in this year's competition. Semifinalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors in the country.

  • Rebel Robotics Receives $3K in Awards from Optimum

    South High School Rebel Robotics Team #2638 is the proud recipient of an Optimum Innovator Award and a team sponsorship from Optimum, totaling $3,000 in funding for the 2022–23 school year.

  • Class of 2022—Barstow & Scott Moss Awards

    Each year, North and South high schools announce the winners of significant graduation awards, including the annual Barstow and Scott Moss Awards. Recipients of the Barstow Award are Sahar Tartak, Kevin Khadavi, and David Zheng from North High, and Lydia Wang and John Xie from South High. The Scott Moss Award recipient is Sana Merchant from South High.

  • The Sun Also Rises on the Class of 2023

    The North High School Class of 2023 carried on the tradition of joining together in the early morning hours on the first day of school to watch the sun rise on their senior year. The celebration, known as “Senior Sunrise,” was organized by senior class officers and advisors, with support from the North High building administration.

    The Great Neck Public Schools welcomed more than 50 new faculty members during an orientation program before the start of the new school year.
