SCOPE After-School Enrichment for Pre-K through Grade 5
The District has partnered with SCOPE to offer after-school enrichment opportunities for students in PreK through grade 5 for the 2024-25 school year. Registration will open on March 15. Clink on the announcement title for more information.

Board of Education Meeting Date Changes
Due to inclement weather, the Board of Education Meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 27 at E.M. Baker School. Additionally, the Board of Education Meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 has been canceled; presentations and student recognitions will be rescheduled for a future date.

Mental Health Resources
The District has partnered with Northwell Health to provide additional mental health resources and services, including access to the Behavioral Health Center at Mineola for urgent care. Registration Information

All registration applications are processed online. The GNPS Registration Office enrolls eligible students for the current school year on an ongoing basis. UPK and Kindergarten registration details for the 2024-25 school year are below.
Universal Pre-K
The District offers a half-day UPK program to all Great Neck School District residents at no cost. To be eligible, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2024. For more information, visit the Pre-Kindergarten Registration web page.
Kindergarten
Any child who legally resides within the school district and will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2024, is eligible for kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. All children who will attend kindergarten in a public or private school must be registered with the District.

Each year, the talented faculty of the Great Neck Public Schools take the stage and perform their favorite songs as a fundraiser for the Student Music Scholarship Fund. The 2023 District Faculty Recital, which took place on October 19, is now airing on GNPS/TV.

GNPS/TV Current ProgramsPrograms currently airing on Great Neck Public Schools Television (GNPS/TV) are South High Cultural Heritage Night, North High Winter Concert II, South High Winter Concert II, and Focus on Education. GNPS/TV programming reflects the offerings of the Great Neck Public Schools and the achievements of its students and staff. Programs may be viewed within the incorporated villages of Great Neck on Optimum Channel 75 and on Verizon Fios Channel 32. Programs are also available on-demand, 24/7, on the GNPS/TV web page.

Community Ed Spring 2024 Catalog

North High Junior Elected New York DECA President
Nina Goldstein, a junior at North High School, has been elected to serve as president of New York DECA for the 2024–25 school year.

North High Wins Third Place at Physics Olympics
A team of five North High students placed third overall in the 2024 Long Island Physics Olympics on March 13. The team took first place in the “Let Us Reflect” event, which involved lasers and mirrors.

High School Long Island Science and Engineering Fair
Eleven science research students from North High and South High were selected to present in the final round of LISEF. Nine students received awards, and one student will advance as a finalist in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), to be held in Los Angeles, CA, in May.

Middle School Long Island Science and Engineering Fair
Science Research students from North Middle and South Middle schools received three first-place awards, five second-place awards, two third-place awards and an honorable mention award at the 2024 LISEF Thermo MASTERS Middle School Science Fair.

North Middle School will proudly present "The Wizard of Oz" on Wednesday, March 20 and Thursday, March 21 at 7pm.

March 21-23: South Middle Musical, "Finding Nemo, Jr"
South Middle School will present the musical, "Finding Nemo, Jr" on Thursday, March 21 at 7 pm; Friday, March 22 at 7 pm; and Saturday, March 23 at 1 pm and 7 pm.

April 5-7: North High Drama, "Don't Tell the Secret"
The North High Junior Players will present their spring play on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m.
